Taught by Specialized master Trainer, Alicia Head
The Gyrokinesis Cardiovascular Breathing Program, developed by Juliu Horvath, offers a path to respiratory health in uniquely designed progressions that allows each person to stay in the individual comfort zone while expanding the functional range with a sense of ease.
All circulatory systems of the human body are stimulated systematically, leading to increased flow of blood, nutrients, oxygen, and other gases, as well as hormones, to and from cells.
In the progression one course, the students learn the fundamentals of the movement and breathing patterns.
Length of the class format: between 45 to 60 minutes.

During the apprenticeship period, students must complete 60 “teaching client” hours and at least 30 supervised apprenticeship course hours. Apprentices complete their supervised apprenticeship review course hours under the guidance and supervision of a Gyrotonic Master Trainer either in the form of a six-day Gyrotonic Apprenticeship Course or by re-taking the Gyrotonic Foundation Course.
This 6-day course is required to enter the Gyrotonic Final Certificate Course.

TAUGHT BY AUTHORIZED MASTER TRAINER, RITA RENHA
This course was developed by Physiotherapist, Paul Horvath who has utilized the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods with orthopedic patients at the Rheintalklinik in Bad Krozingen, Germany. In this course students will review basic terms and anatomy associated with Scoliosis. Students will learn about common patterns associated with Scoliosis and will build on this conceptual framework with practical Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis exercise applications.
The Efficiency of the GYROTONIC® Method Applied to
Scoliosis
1. Understanding Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a three-dimensional condition involving spinal
curvature, asymmetry, and imbalance in muscular support.
Traditional approaches often emphasize correction in one plane,
which can create tension or compensations.
2. Why the GYROTONIC® Method is Unique
Unlike linear exercise systems, the GYROTONIC® Method works through
spirals and wave-like motions — three-dimensional patterns that
reflect the natural intelligence of the spine.
These multidimensional pathways allow the body to explore space
with efficiency, gradually restoring balance and freedom without
imposing force or rigidity.
3. Principles of Efficiency
• Economy of Effort: Instead of bracing or overworking,
the method emphasizes pathways where movement flows with less
resistance.
• Neurological Re-patterning: Through repetition of fluid
sequences, the nervous system learns new options for alignment and
balance.
• Deep Core Activation: Centering from the pelvis and breath
provides internal support, allowing the spine to elongate
naturally.
4. Application to Scoliosis
• Three-Dimensional Mobilization: Encourages balanced
lengthening of both concave and convex sides.
• Breath & Expansion: Breathwork opens restricted areas of the
ribcage and reduces collapse.
• Symmetry Through Asymmetry: Instead of imposing artificial
symmetry, the body learns to self-organize efficiently within its
unique structure.
• Functional Strength: Clients develop strength that translates
into everyday movement, not just isolated exercise.
5. The Outcome
Clients with scoliosis often report:
• Greater freedom of movement
• Reduced discomfort
• A sense of elongation and spaciousness in the spine
• More efficiency in posture, walking, and daily activities
Teachers observe:
• Less compensation in shoulders, hips, and pelvis
• A more balanced distribution of effort across the body
• Greater adaptability and resilience in movement
In short: Efficiency in GYROTONIC®
is not about “correcting” scoliosis but about helping the system
function with less effort, more balance, and greater
integration.
