When I wake up in the morning with a stiff neck, or ouchie point in my back, or another pain, I can usually have it resolved within a few minutes. More intense pains might take longer, but are usually gone within the first half of the day. This is so normal to me I forget that most of the population will spend weeks or even months in pain until they can get an appointment with a massage therapist or chiropractor, only to have the pain return within a few days or weeks.

The self-healing techniques I use are both swift and lasting, based on the practice of Somatic Re-Education Therapy. The premise is the body gets stuck trying to complete a movement, and once trapped sends pain signals asking for help. Once you support the body in completing the movement it was attempting, it reverts to a tension free, pain free state.

This workshop will gently guide you in how to listen to your body, following it’s wisdom into deep ease. These techniques work for releasing both chronic and acute pains, ongoing tension patterns, and preventing injury.

They can enhance other physical practices, such as yoga or dance, by releasing the tension patterns that make certain movements difficult or impossible. Rather than continuously fighting your body into submission, learn how to un-knot the body’s holding patterns so desired movements become free and easy on their own.

You can bring your own yoga mat or one will be provided.
