Sound Bath with George Pendred on Fridays 7:00 - 8:00pm 18 Oct
Oct 18, 2024 - Oct 18, 2024
Held on the third Friday of each montth. Sound Bath with George Pendred on Fridays 7:00 - 8:00pm 18 Oct Sound healing sessions are referred to as Sound Baths, because it is like bathing in a beautiful serene sea of calming sound. Each person lies on a yoga mat, maybe with a pillow or blanket, in comfortable clothing. Sound Healing is the use of sound and music to improve emotional and physical health and wellbeing. It has been shown that specific instruments played in specific ways can influence the brain, and help people to enter into a state akin to profound meditation or deep relaxation. Relaxation and mediation have a huge impact on all levels of health, as stress can impact the immune system, sleep patterns, emotions etc. Thus, the active practice and development of relaxation can have a knock on effect to almost every level of a person's health, and people frequently report that sound baths helped them with eg. Sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, pain management, memory and spiritual wellbeing (to name just a few.) About George... During a sound bath, you may find that old memories come up. Participants also may have an emotional release during a sound bath. This may be in the form of laughter or maybe tears. This is a natural response to the feeling of safety and relaxation provided by the sound. It is fine to shed tears during a sound bath. Many people find this to be a cathartic form of release. Sound has been used for healing for thousands of years, on every continent of the planet. eg. Hindu mantra, Taoist healing sound qigong, Pythagoras' use of frequency. Research has shown that sound affects people's brain, nerve, muscle and organ function. Example: Imagine hearing the sound of screeching nails on a chalkboard. How do you feel? ...Now, imagine the gentle sound of a windchime amongst rustling leaves... It is clear that sound can deeply affect us on many levels. All you will need to take part is comfortable clothing, pillows, and maybe a blanket. George has been a musician since an early age. He has a background in classical music and has delved deeply into the music of other cultures from around the world from many continents.   He has a passion for exploring and researching how music and sound can be used to facilitate healing. He has taught yoga and meditation for many years, and finds this to be a perfect adjunct to his work with sound. He is qualified with the College of Sound Healing.   George is an award winning performer of the Native American Style Flute, and he enjoys pushing the boundaries of what this instrument is capable.
