Join us on Sunday, February 8 for an in-depth workshop devoted to two of yoga’s most revered inversions: Salamba Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand) and Salamba Shirshasana (Headstand)—traditionally known in the Iyengar method as the Queen and King of asana—led by Martha Staff, a highly experienced, long-time Iyengar practitioner and teacher.
These postures hold a central place across many yoga traditions. Practiced individually, each offers significant physical and energetic benefits; practiced sequentially and with intention, their effects are enhanced—supporting clarity, vitality, and balance in both body and mind. Martha’s depth of study and years of teaching bring clarity and precision to this work, offering students a grounded, accessible pathway into these essential poses.
The workshop will move through carefully chosen preparatory poses, detailed alignment instruction, and the skillful use of props—hallmarks of the Iyengar tradition—to cultivate stability, confidence, and ease. Emphasis is placed on intelligent progression, safety, and sensitivity to individual bodies, allowing practitioners to build strength and understanding without force or strain.
