AGES 7-9
NO CLASS ON MONDAY OCTOBER 13TH
Discovery Strength
& Conditioning
A fun, high-energy class where kids build strength, coordination,
and confidence through games, challenges, and skill practice. Each
session blends playful warm-ups, skill-based drills, and
primal movements like squats, lunges, pushes,
pulls, jumps, and carries. Athletes develop agility, balance, and
body awareness while exploring loaded, odd, and awkward objects to
keep things exciting. Perfect for young athletes ready to move,
learn, and have fun!
This class introduces young athletes to the foundations of movement, strength, and coordination in a safe and engaging way. Each session follows a progressive structure designed to help kids explore movement, build athletic skills, and develop confidence in their physical abilities.
Class Flow:
1. Warm-Up & Movement Options – A playful
start with skipping, hopping, crawling, and coach-led shape
copying. These activities introduce the basic positions and
movement patterns that will appear later in the workout.
2. Movement Prep – Focused upper body, trunk, and lower body preparation using body shapes and positions that develop athletic awareness. This section builds the foundation for primal movements and all-around athleticism.
3. FIRE – A burst of fun through throws, bounces, balance challenges, and coordination drills to spark focus and readiness.
4. Primal Movements – Practicing the core building blocks of movement: Vertical Push & Pull, Horizontal Push & Pull, Squat, Hinge, Step-Up, and Lunge. Athletes start with bodyweight and gradually explore loaded, odd, or awkward objects to challenge stability and strength.
5. Athleticism Skills Practice – An open, game-like segment with opportunities to jump, drop, drag, carry, climb over and under, evade, pursue, react, throw, swing, hold, hang, stop, crawl, turn, rotate, spin, dive, slide, and roll. These challenges develop versatility, agility, and problem-solving in motion.
The Discovery class builds coordination, confidence, and athletic skill while keeping sessions fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Every activity is scaled to meet each child where they’re at while encouraging safe exploration and growth.
