Did you know that all of our teachers at OTOB are also professional musicians that perform around Toronto and beyond? Many students have never heard their teacher perform so we are proud to launch a new “Teachers in Concert” series here at the music school! We want to make teacher performnces accessible for our students and neighbourhood community. These concerts and are kid-friendly small, intimate events on Sunday afternoons and will run from 2 pm - 4pm with a 15 minute internission in between to chat with the musicians and have some refreshments. (Ages 8+ recommended) Concerts will be held in the upper orange room at OTOB (1113 Queen Street East). There are three available parking spots on Caroline Avenue.
To celebrate our 15th year in business we are launching this series with our first concert featuring the three teachers who have been at OTOB since the beginning! Kurt Nielsen was the first guitar/bass OTOB teacher who joined OTOB owners Carissa Neufeld and Michael Skinner 15 years ago. They performed together at Edward Levesque's Kitchen for several years every weekend as a jazz trio and also performed on OTOB's front lawn for “Live Jazz from Across the Street” during the pandemic lockdowns. Come join us for an afternoon of jazz standards and arrangements with Carissa Neufeld on piano, Kurt Nielsen on bass and Michael Skinner on drums. For more information on each teacher please see their bios at: https://ontheoffbeat.ca/
Tickets are $20 each - price includes entry ticket and one nespresso coffee. No tax will be added.
