Acupuncture and Yoga Nidra
Sep 21, 2024 - Sep 21, 2024

Caleigh, Guiding Tree Yoga's owner, will lead participants through a gentle seated flow (15min) ending in a supported savasana on the ground. Acupuncture needles will then be placed at this time by Sam from Winding Path Acupuncture as Caleigh guides students through relaxing breathwork (10min). The acupuncture points that will be placed help with sleep, depression, and anxiety. Used together, these points should help to ground, relax, and bring about a sense of calm and balance within our bodies. Once everyone is settled with their acupuncture treatment, Caleigh will then read a guided meditation called Yoga Nidra (30min). Yoga Nidra is sometimes referred to as yogic sleep, and is a wonderful tool to help reach deeper levels of relaxation through guided imagery and a mind-body awareness body scan. Total time commitment will be about 1 hour and the cost of this experience is $45 per person.

As Chinese Medicine treats the body holistically, this treatment is about bringing balance to some of the core systems within. At a fundamental level, Yin and Yang are the base complementary pair at work here, and of the Elements and organ systems, this pairing is best represented by Water and Fire, which refers to Kidney and Heart respectively. The points selected are known as the Yuan points, or Source points for these organs. They reinforce and strengthen their corresponding organ while simultaneously helping to balance our Fire and Water, our Yin and Yang. One last point on the crown of the head, Du 20, is used to clear the mind, while helping to regulate all Yang movements through the body. Additionally, all three of these points help with sleep, depression, and anxiety. Used together, these points should help to ground, relax, and bring about a sense of calm and balance within our bodies. Effects can be immediate and can last for several days or weeks, and are typically felt as deeper, more restful sleep, decreased cortisol/stress response, and an overall ease of mind. If you have any questions about this treatment (or about acupuncture in general), please reach out to Sam via email at sam@windingpathacupuncture.com<wbr />, or call or text him at 804.464.7075.

Mind- Body Awareness Workshop
Sep 22, 2024 - Sep 22, 2024

Ever feel disconnected from yourself, out of tune with your body, or ungrounded? It’s so easy to miss cues that our body is giving to us to help identify what we need and how to regulate. This workshop will be led by Megan, a registered yoga teacher and mental health therapist.

In this workshop, we will talk about how to be more aware of your body and how that can assist you in knowing what you need. We will learn several grounding techniques, and pick a specific guided practice to incorporate what you’ve learned. You’ll come away with learning the tools, practicing them, and feeling like you can use these in your life and yoga practice moving forward.

Mini Yoga Clinic Series
Oct 18, 2024 - Nov 15, 2024

The Shape Within: Understanding Yoga Foundations! In this five class mini workshop series, we will spend half the class learning about and breaking down a specific yoga movement (the 7 movements of the Spine, Balance poses, Twists, Arm Balances and Inversions, and Backbends). Students will have time to practice movements and experience them in their own bodies, with hands-on assistance from the yoga guide available. The second half of class consists of a shorter vinyasa flow that focuses on the particular movement of the class.

This class is beginner friendly and open to all levels of practitioners who'd like to gain a deeper understanding of some of the fundamental shapes of yoga postures. It is best to sign up for all five classes and as we build on our knowledge from the previous class but drop -ins are welcome.

Yoga for Grief and Loss: Creating Compassion for your Hurting Heart (Fall 24)
Nov 9, 2024 - Nov 9, 2024

Join author, grief professional and yoga therapist Karla Helbert in sacred space at Guiding Tree Yoga to nurture your hurting heart.

In grief, we are rarely allowed or encouraged to simply be. Yoga however asks us again and again to be with what is, with compassion and as little judgment as possible. It allows, encourages and supports us in being exactly how we are and where we are moment to moment and especially so, in times of pain and heartache.

In this half day retreat, learn how yoga can support you as you are guided to find rest, compassion and safety for your hurting heart. Through mindful movement, meditation, journaling, chant, breathwork and deep relaxation, you will be able to begin to find ways of caring for yourself and creating sanctuary for your own experience in grief.
