
Over this 3-week class series you will experience Hanna Somatic movements intended to bring more freedom and ease to your shoulder girdle, neck and jaw. We will explore the relationship between these three areas and how releasing tension through one may ripple through the rest of your upper extremities and head. Each class will build on the last to cumulatively support your shoulders, neck and jaw.
Hanna Somatics is a neuromuscular release technique that puts you in the driver's seat to reset the levels of tension and ease in your body. Once your muscles learn a new pattern of ease your body may experience a decrease in joint pain, alignment pain, limitations in range of movement and much more. Hanna Somatics classes are verbally guided to increase the somatic benefit of the movements and will be taught in reclined positions on the floor. Attendance at all three classes is not required but encouraged.
This class series is open to new and returning Hanna Somatic students. Class recordings will be shared for 7 days with all registered students.

What is Yoga Lab? Monthly Workshops presented throughout 2025, for a small group of students to explore a single asana or asana subject in-depth. Whether you are new to the asana/subject, or are looking to refine or advance your practice, this is your chance to explore, ask questions and be seen individually. Various methods, means of support and alternative asanas will be presented so that all leave with the confidence to practice joyfully and sustainably for their bodies.
April’s topic is Foundational Backbending - Learn to love your back! Backbending asanas are designed to bring strength and mobility to your back. They can also ease the discomfort we experience due to long periods of sitting or standing with a rounded back and a concave chest – modern life. In this workshop you will learn to recognize and access more of your back to use your arms and legs in service of your back. The asanas we explore will be accessible to all. Variations will be presented as needed. Whether you are new to backbends or are looking to move your practice forward toward more advanced asanas, this workshop is for you! This workshop will be accompanied by a short practice video that is yours to keep.
