Kirtan is the yoga of heartfelt connection to self, connection to community and connection to life. Kirtan sees the human voice as a sacred expression of the deep heart of life that connects us all. It harnesses the simple, yet amazingly uplifting and universal power of people getting together and singing together. Kirtan brings together melody and rhythm and the infectious joy of live music, instruments and voice… It feels great! You do NOT have to be a singer, or even to like your own voice. Kirtan is not a performance and not remotely about ‘sounding good’. It’s about joining in and FEELING good. Kirtan is about feeling connected as part of a bigger whole, and about celebrating our aliveness and belonging through sound. Kirtan is part of Bhakti yoga, which is the branch of yoga focused on love, devotion and belonging, and it can be a profoundly liberating, transformative and all-round nourishing practice.

Mindful Meditation: A journey to inner peace

Start the New Year by putting yourself first. Set a resolution to discover the solution of a more mindful life. We’re pleased to welcome back Kate Peel to lead our new 6 week meditation taster class beginning in the New Year. Kate will offer an hour of relaxing mindful practice beginning 16 January 2025.

So, whether you’re a busy parent, or feel overstretched at work; or maybe you’re someone burdened with caring for others, then why not join her to support yourself in dealing with stress or difficult emotions? You will learn techniques to still the mind, step back from overthinking and let go of intrusive thoughts or overwhelm.

Make 2025 the year to start a meditation practice, where evidence reveals so many benefits. Our attention is increasingly challenged in today’s world. Learn to nurture your present moment awareness. Evidence demonstrates that mindfulness can aid focus and concentration, it may reduce blood pressure, improve sleep and help you handle more difficult emotions

Starting with a short sitting practice and moving into deeper relaxation – Kate will gently guide and build your practice. Sharing mindful techniques and valued insights, she may use music and poetry as well as her calming tones to help you learn mindfulness and so support your way into a calmer life.
