YES, it’s true! Massage therapists in New Jersey have caught up to the rest of the country and the world. Throughout Canada, massage therapists routinely use ultrasound as an additional component to their massage therapy sessions and now we can use a hand-held ultrasound device in our massage therapy session too. Therapeutic ultrasound is a completely safe procedure that uses pulsed sound waves to stimulate soft tissue beneath the surface of the skin to produce therapeutic benefits to injured tissue. I have always taught my students that anything that increases circulation, decreases pain and speeds up healing. That’s why heat, ice and even magnets can be therapeutic. A hand-held ultrasound device is also touted to increase circulation as well as range of motion, soften scar tissue and adhesions, decrease muscle spasms, and increase tissue healing and repair. It is often used for muscle tension and spasms, strains, sprains, tendonitis, arthritic complaints and specific conditions like TMJ, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow and carpel tunnel syndrome. This day long workshop will teach you all the aspects of using an ultrasound device from indications and contraindications to addressing specific soft tissue conditions and complaints a medical massage therapist works on every day.
Please Note: THIS CLASS IS OPEN TO ALL LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPISTS HOWEVER YOU MUST CHECK WITH YOUR STATE WHETHER ULTRASOUND IS WITHIN YOUR SCOPE OF PRACTICE. IT IS FOR NEW JERSEY. WE ARE NOT OFFERING CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS FOR PA OR N.Y.S. STUDENTS WHO TAKE THIS PROGRAM SINCE IT IS NOT ALLOWED IN THOSE STATES.
