Are you breathing properly? Have you ever stopped to really STUDY your breath or to create a relationship with it? Is it full? Is it free? Before yoga poses, there was the breath. Our breath is our life. The breath is THE bridge that connects our mind, body, and spirit. Did you know that the Greek word for breath, pneuma, also means soul or spirit? Why should we care about something that is already automatic? Because our respiratory system is the only system in our body that is both automatic AND under our control, therefore, we have an invitation, a responsibility, to be part of our own evolution. And when we can't breathe (our current reality), we are depriving our souls, our spirits, of energy and life. Optimal breathing will support all the other bodily systems to also work at their optimal level, thus helping the body to use its natural ability to heal and repair itself. One of the best things about our breath is that we have 20,000 opportunities a day to be with it or to change it. When we change our breath, we change our world.
