Join us for Trailblazers, an adventure-packed 1-1.5 hour guided hike designed to combine the beauty of the region’s scenic trails with the benefits of real-world dog training. Each class takes place at a location chosen by your trainer, offering a fresh experience every time.
As you and your dog explore the outdoors, your trainer will lead an obedience class tailored to the group’s needs. Whether it’s practicing foundation cues, tackling reactivity in real-world settings, mastering fun tricks, or trying out canine parkour, this class blends training with adventure.
Perfect for dogs and their owners who enjoy the great outdoors and want to elevate their skills together, Trailblazers ensures a fun, active, and educational experience for all participants. Lace up your hiking boots, grab your leash, and let’s hit the trails!

Guidelines for Philly Unleashed's Trailblazers Class
To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and productive experience for everyone, please review and follow these guidelines:
Before the Hike

Arrive Prepared
- Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes suitable for hiking.
- Bring water for both you and your dog.
- Pack waste bags to clean up after your dog.

Leashes and Equipment
- All dogs must remain on a 6-foot leash during the hike. Retractable leashes and long lines are not permitted for safety reasons.
- Your trainer may recommend specific training equipment (e.g., harness, head collar) based on your dog’s needs—please bring these if advised.

Dog Suitability
- Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and in good health to participate.
- If your dog has a history of extreme reactivity or aggression, please consult with the trainer before enrolling. Ideally dog has completed an obedience class or private lessons.
During the Hike

Stay Focused
- Keep your dog close to you and under control at all times.
- Be mindful of other trail users (e.g., hikers, cyclists) and wildlife.

Participate Actively
- Follow the trainer’s instructions and actively engage in the exercises.
- Ask questions if you need clarification or additional guidance.

Respect Personal Space
- Allow space between your dog and other dogs unless directed otherwise by the trainer.
- Do not allow your dog to approach others without explicit permission.

Stay Positive
- Use positive reinforcement techniques as guided by your trainer. Harsh corrections are not permitted.
- Celebrate small successes—this class is about learning and having fun!
After the Hike

Check Your Dog
- After the hike, inspect your dog for ticks, burrs, or any signs of discomfort.
- Ensure your dog gets plenty of water and a chance to rest.

Follow-Up Practice
- Continue practicing the skills and exercises learned during the class to build on your progress.
