Keen School of Music is proud to introduce Gospel 101, an immersive class that explores the rich history, powerful influence, and unique musical structure of gospel music. Taught by Aaron Keen, a seasoned multi-instrumentalist and composer with a deep love for gospel and its stylistic impact, this class will give students a comprehensive understanding of gospel’s evolution, its core musical elements, and its cultural significance.

What to Expect

Gospel 101 is designed for musicians of all backgrounds who want to deepen their understanding of gospel music and enhance their musicianship. Whether you’re a vocalist, instrumentalist, or simply an admirer of gospel’s soul-stirring melodies, this class will equip you with the knowledge and skills to engage with gospel music on a deeper level.

Special Guest: James Story

As part of this course, students will have the incredible opportunity to learn from James Story, a highly influential figure in Gallatin’s music education scene and an experienced Gospel musician. With decades of experience in music education, performance, and curriculum development, Mr. Story will share his insights on gospel’s impact in education, community, and modern worship settings.
