Barrelaties Certification Course

What’s Included: Comprehensive training manual, hands-on practice, and a Barrelaties Certification upon completion.

This 7-hour training blends barre, Pilates, and functional movement to equip instructors with the tools they need to lead dynamic, safe, and results-driven classes. Below is an overview of the course structure and what participants can expect.

Course Overview

Foundations and Warm-Up

We’ll begin with the philosophy behind Barrelaties—how it strengthens and stabilizes the body with a focus on breath, alignment, and core engagement (Core 4). I’ll introduce key warm-up sequences like side stretches, ½ sun salutations, cat/cow, and ankle articulation. These fundamentals set the tone for the rest of the class structure.

Lower Body Focus: Strength and Stability

In this section, we’ll focus on plies, squats, and lunges across various positions (first, second, and parallel). Participants will learn how to recruit and activate different muscle groups, from glutes to hamstrings to quads. I’ll also show how to modify movements for clients with limitations while introducing props like mini Pilates balls and booty bands to intensify the work.

Upper Body and Core Work

Next, we’ll target the upper body with pushups (chest and triceps) and a dynamic arms series. We’ll cover proper alignment and how to balance slow, controlled movements with pulses and plyometric options. Core work will include seated flexion, mini Pilates ball exercises, and plank variations to help instructors develop strong, creative sequences that engage the core throughout.

Hip Mobility & Glute Strength

This section highlights movements for hip abduction and extension, such as donkey kicks, side abductions, and rainbow leg sweeps. We’ll explore fold-over and Warrior III positions to strengthen both the hips and core while maintaining spinal alignment. I’ll guide participants through ways to incorporate resistance bands and other challenges to enhance client results.

Dynamic Flow & Cardio Integration

We’ll increase intensity by integrating cardio elements like alternating lunges, knee drives, and quick pulses. I’ll teach how to maintain control and proper alignment even when clients are moving quickly. This section brings together lower-body strength, endurance, and coordination to create balanced, high-energy class flows.

Customization and Troubleshooting

This portion focuses on making Barrelaties adaptable to a wide range of clients. We’ll cover common client challenges—such as knee pain, weak ankles, or limited flexibility—and learn how to adjust movements without losing flow or engagement. I’ll also provide tips on when and how to use props to either support or increase intensity for different ability levels.

Integration & Practice Teaching

Here’s where participants get to put their learning into practice! Each instructor will teach a movement or series they’ve learned to the group. The goal is to practice cueing, alignment correction, and movement modifications in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

Afterward, we’ll have a group debrief to reflect on what worked well, troubleshoot common challenges, and share insights. I’ll answer any remaining questions and offer tips on creating engaging, client-centered class flows.
