This 6-week series offers participants a safe space to
re-connect with their healing
energy through yoga. Being present with breath, movement, and
stillness, in the safety
of the here-and-now, invites the opportunity to heal from past
traumas. The path of
healing involves regulating the nervous system—being aware of
internal sensations,
feelings, and thoughts and re-patterning responses so that they are
consistent with the
safety of the present moment. Yoga, an evidence-based practice for
treating the effects
of trauma, helps us do this.
What you can
expect:
-6 weekly, 60 minute, in-person yoga sessions at Nourish and Move,
led by Dr. Beth
Christiano, a Clinical Psychologist, Registered Yoga Teacher (200
RYT), and Certified Yoga Therapist
-Access to a video recording of the instructor doing the practice,
to use at home
between in-person sessions
-A small group setting, limited to 8 participants
-Access to yoga mats, yoga blocks, and blankets (of course, you may
also choose to
bring your own)
-A safe, non-judgmental space, in which you may choose to be aware
of the present
experiences of your body, breath, and mind
What this
practice is NOT:
-This practice is not group therapy or talk therapy.
-You are not expected to and will not be asked to share your story
or any personal
details of your life.
-You will not be videotaped or audio recorded.
-The focus is not on physical exercise, per se, but rather on the
present experience of
body, breath, and mind.
-There is not an expectation that participants have previous
experience with yoga.
