Beginner Boot Camp
We get it. Line dancing, like anything, can be intimidating to jump into, especially in a bar, when everyone seems to know what they're doing already. When waking into your first line dancing experience, seeing a group of dancers all moving in unison, we all think to ourselves:

“Whennnn did y'all learn ALL of these steps?? How can anyone remember what comes next?” (Psst: the answer is we learn over time, by continuing to come, being brave, and try, try and trying again!) 

Think of Beginner Boot Camp as your short cut to being “in the know”. Rather than learning everything in a bar setting, you get to start in a studio, learning with the help of mirrors, being able to ask questions and learning at a pace that cultivates a deeper understanding of the structure, vocabulary and choreography of line dancing. You'll learn many of the commonly used steps that are called out during a lesson or when following along. Steps like: heel struts, rocking chair, pivots, a jazz box, and the difference between triples vs shuffles, lock steps, lindys and wizards.... You'll learn how steps are attached to counts and understand how people know when to add their personal flair on top of the steps. By the end, you'll have a foundation of common vocabulary -- and have learned a dance or two that's danced at Steppin' Out AVL (@Banks Ave Bar) and Blue Country events (@The Grey Eagle) -- setting you up to feel more confident at your next lessons. 

Line dancing is magic. It's a slice of the dance world that brings all kinds of people together to dance in unison -- dancers at all ages, from every country and at every skill level, to all genres of music. All across the world we share the same vocabulary. Its inclusivity fuels community.
