This weekend will focus on the quality of yoga that is
exercise. In many ways, your first module was about building
the container and getting used to the physicality of Yoga Teacher
Training. In many ways, this is your philosophical and deeper
practice dive into the YTT.
Before you can understand the further depths of yoga as
spirituality, you must understand yoga as
exercise. We will build context for yoga as
spirituality and tradition and then branch into yoga as exercise
that brings about deeper transformation that simply stronger
muscles, better balance, and more flexibility (and those things
too)!
In this Module You will Learn:
- About Yoga's History in targeting the Nervous System... hence state of mind.
- The importance of Myth & Ritual within the Context of Yoga's Cultural Embeddedness.
- Faith is not belief
- The great historic Eras & Ages of Yoga's History
- Interior/Exterior & the divide of focus in the East vs. the West.
- The Primary Model of 21st Century Yoga on the Mat
- The Importance of Studying Biology, Anatomy, and Physiology for Maximizing the Body's Impact on the Mind.
- Power vs. Force
- Using our Intention to maximize the Mind's Impact on the Body
- The Cycle of Primary Exercise.
- Introduction to Asana, Mudra, Chant, and Yoga's Evolution
Weekend Preparations
- Watch and Take Notes on Section 03, plus do the Keystone Practice (3.5 hours)
- Read through Chapter 1 in “Yoga Body” & try the exercises at the end of the Chapter. Write down your questions and bring them to the module.
