Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stand in a circle of friends, holding your own sacred staff, and raising power to create changes in your life? It’s truly an incredible experience.

 

In this 7 hour workshop we will be recreating some of the magical arts called “Seidr” (pronounced Saythr) as they have been documented in the ancient Sagas and Eddas of the ancient Nordic people.

Seidr is a type of mediumship that has been used for divination, healing, blessings, and much more.

In this workshop you will first get a short history of famous Seidr stories to inspire and connect you to this ancient magical lineage.

Then you will learn the song of binding so that you can fully connect yourself to your staff. You will be given a ribbon to help facilitate this sacred bond.

Then we will explore, using staff and song, how to drop into a deep state of trance and connect to Yggdrasil, the world tree. Yggdrasil connects the 9 realms of the ancient Nordic world and is the meeting place of the Nordic Gods. You will be given the opportunity to give voice to what you perceive during and after this trance state. This is a type of group mediumship that is an essential skill in all Seidr work.

 

Next, (using trance work) we will meet the Norns, who reside at the base of Yggdrasil. These are the three Goddesses of fate in the Nordic tradition. They are the ones that we will connect with so that we can learn about our Orlog and our Wyrd. Our Orlog and Wyrd are the two different kinds of fate that are talked about in the Eddas and the Sagas.

 

Orlog is the fate that you were born with. We each have a fate that comes from our genetic, geographical, and past life heritage. You will learn about what in your Orlog is a hidden strength that you can use in your life.

Wyrd is the fate that you create for yourself. It is your Wyrd (word) that can alter the trajectory of your Orlog. You will learn how this powerful weaving of Wyrd might be blocking you from your true power and how might reweave a new fate for yourself.

 

Then we will explore raising a healing energy through our staffs and how to transmit that healing energy to others.

This work is intense. We will have many short breaks where you will be encouraged to drink a lot of water and eat a nourishing snack. There will be a 45 minute lunch break.

 

You will need to bring:
• a wooden staff, 3 to 6 feet tall.
• a scarf or head covering to cover your eyes during trance.
• a towel, small blanket or carpet to rest your staff on, because we want to respect the beautiful floors.
• a covered container for water to drink.
• a lunch to enjoy.
