Join us for Silks Splitty Sequences, a
workshop hosted by Katie in the Sky at Inspired Aerial Arts. This
workshop is all about mastering dynamic, splitty shapes and flowing
transitions that will make your sequences pop! Whether you're
looking to add flair to your performances or simply love finding
that new, perfect split, this is your chance to get bendy and
creative in the air.
Expect to dive into innovative sequences that emphasize smooth, eye-catching transitions while building strength and flexibility. Katie’s expert tips will help you refine your technique, unlock new shapes, and feel more confident in your flow. Come ready to play, stretch, and split your way to stunning silks combos!
Katie Critzer (also known at Katie in
the Sky) is the Co-Owner and Head Aerial Silks coach at South
Dakota Aerial & Arts and Founder of the Dakota Aerial
Championship in Sioux Falls South Dakota. She was a lifelong
gymnast and has been practicing aerial arts since 2017.
She is passionate about making aerial arts classes and
performances accessible and fun for individuals of all levels,
ages, and abilities. She co-founded Sioux Falls' first circus
performance group in 2020 and has brought the joy of aerial arts to
hundreds of different events and venues across the Midwest. Her
aerial performance group was named Best New Business by 605
Magazine in 2021.
She has won multiple awards for her aerial performances, including Best Variety Act for aerial doubles, 1st place in Aerial Silks and Hammock at the Black Hills Aerial Cup, and various first and second place awards in All-Star Aerial Silks at Aerialympics and Aerial Star. She now helps judge for Aerialympics and is part of the United Circus Arts Network committee working to standardize aerial arts. She was also named one of Sioux Falls' 2023 30 Under 30, and was in the 2022 cohort of CoStarters through Start Up Sioux Falls.
Katie loves to share her aerial performances, technique tips and interesting pathways on her Instagram page, where she has over 25k followers. She loves how supportive the online aerial community is and has loved making connections across the country. She has coached various workshops across the U.S. and looks forward to continuing to travel and share her aerial expertise. She loves creating new aerial silks moves, helping beginners discover their passion for aerial fitness, and being your (tough but kind) cheerleader.
Katie professionally performs aerial silks, partner acrobatics, aerial hoop, trapeze, lollipop lyra, aerial doubles (straps, silks, and hoop), specialty apparatuses,s and fire dancing.

Level & Prerequisites: Students must
be able to consistently do aerial inversions, climb, and understand
basic aerial theory. Students should be able to stay in the air for
at least two minutes at any given time.
