This 3 part series introduces breathing and pranayama tools in a steady and systematic way, supporting you to build your awareness and technique within a clear framework of practice.
The way we breath is fundamental to our health - physical, mental and emotional. This third part of the pranayama series will take your practice to new levels through ithe introduction of mudra (yogic gestures), bandha (yogic locks) and kumbhaka (breath retentions). We will continue to build on previous practices, allowing you to revisit and revise techniques. We will learn how to incorporate breath holds into these techniques, whilst learning some new practices.
~ Deepen and expand knowledge, experience and practice
~ Learn & revise essential mudras and bandhas for deepening pranayama practice
~ Understand kumbhaka (breath retention) - health benefits & techniques
~ Learn new techniques & revise practices with time to deepen & share your practice
~ Understand the anatomy of the subtle body and the ultimate purpose of pranayama
Please note to attend this course you must have attended the previous two courses of this series, the Satyam Foundation Programme, or be a qualified yoga teacher.
Connect with your body in new ways ~ Cultivate expanded states of consciousness ~ Invigorate the brain and awaken dormant areas ~ Increase oxygenation of the blood ~ Deepen meditative states ~
Sessions will include some basic movement practices to support the body to sit comfortably. Please note, you are welcome to sit on a meditation cushion or on a chair, or even to stand up if that supports your ability to engage with the practices.
A course manual will be provided, plus session recordings of the practices for you to use at home. Please note, a home practice (sadhana) is a key part of learning for this course.
