Breath, Spirit, and Soul Embodied at the Dawn of Ancient Greece
Listen to the wind, the breath of Earth. Dwelling in us, wind becomes breath: the fabric of the psyche, according to archaic Greek wisdom. What and where is the psyche? How does it motivate life and flourish with spirit, to encounter the world? From the dawn of time, ancient people have revered elemental winds as sovereign spirits, protective divinities, and potent actors. Let’s circle up to explore the curious destinies of breath, spirit, and soul at the dawn of Greek myth, psychology, and philosophy. In doing so we will engage with mysteries, explore spiritual language, and honor deeply-rooted voices of long ago.
Led by Dianna Rhyan, who is a mythologist and therapist who studies nature goddesses, tree worship, forgotten voices, and the spirituality of sacred landscapes. As a child she created her first secret language on tablets of clay made from the creek beside her home. In time that language grew into a PhD in Ancient Greek and Latin, and thirty years of college teaching. She has been a visiting scholar on archaeological excavations in Greece and Cyprus. When not delving into archaic myth, she can be found exploring the Cuyahoga Valley trails of Northeast Ohio.
Sunday, February 23, 3-4 pm at The Yoga Place.
