This 8 week, in-person course provides a
comprehensive introduction to Tai Chi and Qi Gong with Masters Yao
and Dorri Li.
Tai chi is an internal or soft style martial art intended for self defense. Yet, at its core, it is a slow, moving study in meditation. Practicing tai chi over time, you will cultivate and learn to maintain an alert, yet relaxed, body and mind. In this class, the basics such as breathing, postures, hand and footwork of Yang Style Tai Chi will be taught.
Qi gong means “breath work” and refers to methods of breathing and body movements designed to promote well being and health. Qi gong enhances the flow of energy, or “qi,” in the body which in turn invigorates the internal organs, supports bone strength, and maintains resilient muscles. In this class, qi gong techniques warm up and prepare you for tai chi training.
Intro to Tai Chi And Qi Gong is a low-impact exercise program. Special clothing is not necessary, but athletic shoes and loose fitting pants are recommended.
