Setting padding time for an Appointment Type

Padding time can be set to reserve a certain amount of time before and/or after an Appointment Type. Unlike processing time, padding time does not affect the duration of an Appointment, it is set aside for staff members and is not visible to clients when booking that type of Appointment. Padding time may be required for preparation, clean up, administrative tasks, or other purposes. Padding time can be allocated in five-minute increments.

NoteEnsure that padding time is taken into consideration when scheduling and booking Appointments. Staff members will be unavailable for other services during padding time. Padding time is staff member specific, meaning that staff members not assigned to an Appointment are available during that Appointment’s padding time.
NoteCanceling an Appointment will also cancel any allotted padding time.
NoteAny assets that are associated with an Appointment will be affected by that Appointment’s padding time. The asset will not be available during the specified padding time. Staff members who are assigned to Appointments with padding time will also be affected and will not be available for other assignments during the specified padding time.

To set padding time for an Appointment Type:

  1. Click the App Drawer button .
  2. In the App Drawer, click Setup.
  3. On the Setup menu, click Appointments.
  4. In the list, click the Appointment you want to modify. You may have to browse the list, use the Search option, or filter the list to find the Appointment.
  5. Under Duration, click Add Padding.
  6. Choose the number of hours and minutes of padding time that should occur before the Appointment from the BEFORE lists.
  7. Choose the number of hours and minutes of padding time that should occur after the Appointment from the AFTER lists.
  8. Click SAVE. The padding time is added to Appointments of this type.
