The mind can be a messy place and often we feel powerless to the
whims of
our thoughts and reactions. The good news is there are tools to
help quiet the
mind and settle its fluctuations. These techniques teach us to
focus our
attention and build awareness of our thought patterns, taking power
away
from the reactive mind. Through these practices we begin to
understand that
we can choose where our attention is focused, creating space in the
mind for
what is most important. By building a mediation practice we can
reduce
anxiety, depression and sleepless nights. We can begin to center
and ground
the mind allowing us to live in the present moment with joy and
compassion.

'Life Alive - Drum Circle' will celebrate expressing Spirit through the human body with the Universal language that is music and movement. We will open and close the drum circle with a guided meditation which will include sage, unison drumming, and toning to center and align our energies. In between will be a freestyle drum circle. Anyone can start a rhythm, the group will improvise around that rhythm until it naturally concludes, and then a new rhythm can arise. All skill levels are welcome, this drum circle is open to total beginners and experienced drummers alike. It is also not just open to drummers! Dancers! During the freestyle portion, being conscious of the space you are in and those around you, feel free to get up and move! Shake, dance, stretch, flow... feel free to move to the rhythm and express through your movement.
There will be a limited number of drums and percussion items
available for borrowing at the circle, but if you have an
instrument, please bring yours. There will not be enough for
everyone who attends to borrow something.

Please join Ellen and Katie for a Yoga Nidra with Reiki class
and find peace during the holidays.
Yoga Nidra: In a world of chronic exhaustion and over stimulation, Yoga Nidra is a method that is intended to induce full body relaxation, bringing about an incredible calmness, quietness and clarity to the physical body and mind. Yoga Nidra, also known as “yogic sleep,” is a deep meditation that uses a variety of techniques—including guided imagery and body scanning—to aid relaxation and offer balance and healing in the body and mind. Practitioners can expect to leave the practice feeling restored and rejuvenated. This practice is for all levels of yogis.
We warmly welcome yogis of all levels. Please try to arrive 10-15 minutes early to get comfortable and settled in your space. And don't forget, you're more than welcome to bring any props, bolsters, or blankets you'd like to use.
