Guiding Tree Yoga
Teresa (AKA Lakshmi) has been practicing yoga for over 20 years, however it was an "off-and-on" relationship in the early years. Then in late 2017, fueled by a strong desire to find connection to a Higher Power, the Earth, other beings, herself, and the world around her - Teresa began studying the philosophy of yoga through the Gaia channel. Through studying yogic philosophy (Advaita Vedanta), spirituality, and asana, and combining that with her traditional Christian upbringing, Teresa finally found the strong connection she'd been seeking and heard the call to pass those teachings along to others through yoga.In January of 2023, Teresa completed her RYT 200 hour training at the Sivananda Vedanta Center, and shortly thereafter completed her Yin Yoga certification through Yoga Renew. Her teaching style focuses on the five principles of Sivananda yoga - proper breath control, proper exercise through asana, proper relaxation, healthy consumption, and meditation and proper thought. With an added focus on energetic restoration, Teresa's classes are slower and include more deliberate movements to allow students to find balance and connect the body, mind, and spirit to achieve acceptance and love of their bodies. When not teaching yoga, Teresa loves dogs, hiking, climbing, and is starting to play pickleball.
