Carrie Plew is a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist bringing over 22 years of experience to the table. She received certification in Massage Therapy from both Guilford Technical Community College (High Point, NC) and the Swedish Institute (New York, NY). Massage therapy has been a perfect complement to Carrie’s work as a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer (BFA UNC-Greensboro in Dance Performance and Choreography). She started her massage career as the in house massage therapist for Stewart Physical Therapy in Burlington, NC. There she gained experience in and appreciation for truly therapeutic massage for medically rehabilitative purposes. Carrie is certified in Prenatal and Postpartum Massage and has completed training as a doula. She is proud to have completed her studies at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute for Movement Studies and is now a Certified Movement Analyst. Her knowledge of Laban Movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundamentals gives her even more tools to guide clients towards increased movement potential and efficiency. She takes an anatomically specific approach to care for clients, using a firm and focused pressure to bring relaxation to overworked muscles. Carrie is passionate about educating her clients in self care techniques such as gentle exercises and stretches so that the relaxation achieved during a massage session can be more integrated into a client’s daily routine.
