If you put your mind to it, you can do it!
I took the Fabrication 105 class at Arc Academy and had a fantastic experience. Stephen is an excellent teacher—clear, patient, and very knowledgeable. I came away with practical skills and much more confidence in the shop. I highly recommend Arc Academy, even for novices like me.
Attended this class with my 16-year-old Daughter who has shown interest in welding. The class was great and the instructor was very knowledgeable and friendly. We will go to some of the more advanced offerings. Highly recommend!
I recently took the MIG1 class at Arc Academy, and it was an excellent introduction to welding for a beginner like me. The class covered all the basics— from setting up the equipment to practicing actual MIG welds, grinding, and safety tips—in a hands-on way that made everything easy to grasp. It was just the right length, around 3 hours, and the small group size meant plenty of one-on-one time.
Curtis, the instructor, was fantastic! He's incredibly detail-oriented in his training, breaking down each step clearly without overwhelming you. He balanced the technical stuff with real-world experiences from his pro welding background, which made the lessons practical and relatable. Plus, he's got a great sense of humor that kept things light and fun, and he was super patient with all my questions and beginner mistakes. I left feeling confident and excited to try more.
Highly recommend this class if you're new to welding.
Great shop and every teacher or staff person I've talked with was chill, knowledgeable, and helpful. I've taken MIG classes here and go to open shop and recommend both. Have heard through friends the TIG classes are also quality!
I learned a lot!
My son and I attended the class, MIG1, our instructor was Curtis. Both of us having never welded before, we found this mostly hands-on class to be very informative, skill-building, and practical. We both learned a lot and look forward to building on this experience perhaps with another class, and much practice. I could appreciate the equipment used, and the instruction and instructor’s experience-based guidance, provided. Curtis is very knowledgeable and attentive, an excellent communicator and teacher, who knows how to throw in a twist of fun while maintaining professionalism and safety.
Great intro. class!
Curtis knows his sh@&!
The MIG Welding 1 class with Curtis was excellent! Curtis was extremely knowledgable about the technical details as well as the techniques, and was able to explain everything clearly, answer all of our questions, and guide us through our own first welds. You get the knowledge of a professor and the skills of a true craftsman. And he made the class fun and entertaining! We are already signed up for MIG Welding 2. Highly recommended.
Overall this was a great class and experience - our instructor was knowledgeable, engaging and attentive. I'd definitely recommend this intro class to friends.
The only things I would change were logistical.
A reminder was sent via text and email 3 hours before the class. That's great but it was an 11am class on a Sunday - so if I had forgotten about the class and slept in - I may have missed it. I'd definitely send a reminder the day before and then maybe again 3 hours before.
There were 6 participants in the class - but not 6 sets of tongs. Sharing an anvil wasn't hard - but switching the tongs back and forth got frustrating.
