I just finished my 10th FHW Strength and Balance exercise class with Kara Griffith at Family Health West in Fruita. This is probably the best thing I’ve done for myself in years! I thought the weakness and aches I was feeling were just part of being 70 years old. But I was wrong. With Kara’s guidance (she is a degreed exercise physiologist) I’m stronger than I’ve been in years and go about my days with more confidence and energy. Like some of my classmates, Kara was recommended to me by my doctor. Kara knows each of her student’s abilities and limitation and is always right there to offer a tip or word of encouragement. The facility is large and has a lot of exercise stations and equipment. Kara patiently helps us work through each station and piece of equipment (no matter how many times we forget). For me, FHW Strength and Balance class is not just an exercise class. But a way to connect with others. Thanks to Kara’s kind and supportive leadership we’re all doing better.
